Clarendon welcomes John Swannell
Posted 20/01/2011
John Swannell will be attending a private view of his new collection of photographs at Clarendon on Thursday 10th February 2011. The exhibition will be open to the public with works going on sale from Friday 11th February to Tuesday 1st March.
This new collection presents a series of surrealist nudes. The iconic images have been described by Martin Harrison as “mysterious, unusual and compelling, and perhaps the most provocative and powerful he has ever made.”
Rachel Simkiss, the gallery’s communications director commented: “This important exhibition gives us an amazing insight into the creative mind of a legend in British photography. The National Portrait Gallery in London has over 100 of his photographs, and The V&A, The National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh, The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Royal Photographic Society now have many of John’s works in their permanent collections, so we are delighted to bring his work to Mayfair and offer collectors a unique opportunity to acquire some magnificent new works.”
