Robert Lenkiewicz Originals come to Clarendon

Clarendon Fine Art in Mayfair is delighted to present a major exhibition of works from Robert Lenkiewicz (1941-2002). The gallery will curate a show that will convey something of the extraordinary talent of a man who defied the artistic establishment but mesmerised just about everyone else. To those who knew Lenkiewicz the nine years since his death have not taken the edge off their memories of him. Jonathan Kearns of Clarendon Fine Art said: “I met Robert on several occasions and found him more than charismatic. His views were radical on almost any subject you cared to mention, but they were deeply and honestly felt, and these qualities resonate throughout his extraordinary work. But in some ways his haunting, larger-than-life presence distracted people from the astonishing power of the artwork in its own right. Because he was so unconventional in his lifestyle, Robert attracted tabloid gossip and sensational stories wherever he went and whatever he did, so exhibiting his work without his personality overshadowing it will be a fascinating experience. I believe this event at a major London gallery will be a great opportunity to show a whole new audience why he was, and is, one of the most important British figurative artists of the last 50 years.”
