When Rolf Harris met acclaimed film maker Vikram Jayanti at a party, the two had a conversation that was to spark the most exciting artistic project of 2010. Rolf confessed an unfulfilled ambition to Vikram, who immediately saw the possibilities of a fascinating idea, marrying fine art, classic literature and contemporary celebrity, and ‘Rolf Paints his Dream’ was born. Rolf was filmed painting five beautiful women, Lily Cole, Emer Kenny, Dervla Kirwan, Lizzy Jagger and his wife Alwen, for a prestigious BBC Arena documentary, which will be shown on 29th December (BBC2 9pm). The film gives an insight into Rolf’s studio, and represents a mesmerising and sometimes moving tribute to his amazing life. The five portraits which portray their subjects as Shakespeare’s Titania, Queen of the Fairies, will be on display to the public from Wednesday 5th January at Clarendon Fine Art.
