WE SAY...

At first glance, Craig Alan’s Populus series paintings appear to be straight forward monochromatic drawings or paintings of well known faces, but on closer inspection each portrait is revealed to be composed not from line or brush strokes but from tiny crowds of hundreds of individually painted figures; some skating; some running others walking; some rush with brief cases off to work; others with umbrellas; there are children playing and even the odd skier!
