The sculptures are, in their essence, geological artefacts; individual and unique fingerprints taken and preserved from the surface of the glacier itself, which Sevan scales in pursuit of both adventure and art. Using a precise moulding method developed and refined over many years, no harm from heat emission or chemical residue is impacted on the glacier – no trace is left, while the beginnings of a unique sculpture are born.

These works physically encapsulate and immortalise the part of a glacier which has since melted away. This ephemeral aspect is what the artist hopes will ignite awareness, conversation and appreciation of the ever-increasing unnatural forces of change occurring in our world.

Sevan is based in Wales, and works from his self-designed and built workshop when sketching, devising new ways of celebrating Nature’s monuments in artistic forms, and planning his next expedition to the mountains.
