Lhouette, aka British artist Ciarán Robinson, is one of the UK’s most progressive proponents of urban pop.
His ‘post urban glamour' and 'pop maximalist' concepts have won him international recognition, along with the widely collected silhouette figures which inspired his pseudonym.
Lhouette employs mediums ranging from aerosol paints to high pigment heavy body acrylics, resins, diamond dust and metallic gilds and works with stencils, collage and hand painting to create his vibrant compositions.
He Incorporates vintage design, iconic figures, comic book characters, fashion, music and more, and his personal nostalgia for the ’80s and ’90s heightens the retro aesthetic, but in an entertaining visual twist he overlays this with digitised symbols from social media platforms and mainstream software to capture the zeitgeist.
His work is sold internationally as well as through Christies, Sotheby’s and Bonhams, and his impressive list of private and corporate collectors includes Antonio Banderas, Tim Burton, Ronan & Storm Keating, Adrian Newey and the Dorchester.

'Angels & Demons' is part of Lhouette's 'Cover Stories' series. Each witty, literary original artwork has been created in aerosol and acrylic paint on the cover of an existing hardback book, then beautifully presented in a black edged box frame. 'Angels & Demons' borrows its title from the mass market hit thriller by American author Dan Brown, but the subject matter of the novel is replaced by cartoon goodies and baddies, the adorable Betty Boop and the less adorable ‘Hot Stuff the Little Devil’, along with angelic 1960s and ‘70s star of the silver screen, Ursula Andress.

Stylish and flamboyant, 'Cola' is taken from Lhouette's new ‘Paper Trails’ series of original mixed media artworks and juxtaposes iconic branding and Japanese calligraphy in the artist's unique 'pop maximalist' style. The reworking of materials and imagery has played a big part in Lhouette's studio practice over the years; these works continue to build on their history by repurposing archived paper works and stencils, and heavily layering existing paper compositions, then incorporating fresh portraits. Close inspection reveals previous works and projects from the studio embossed into the canvas.
